You see, our neighbors to the north practically begged this country to add another pipeline so they could easily disperse their huge resources into our economy. Canada wanted the U.S. to build the Keystone XL pipeline. Obama decided that would not do as too much is owed the fucking wealth destroying, socialist, leftist environmentalist fucktards. You see the elections are upon us. No political decisions will happen in this country for the next year, unless the ability to pander to the constituency herd is accomplished. Fucking pathetic.
So Obama basically told Canada that we wouldn't be building the pipeline and certainly not until he is re-elected.
This is problematic for at least one giant reason, energy security. See, Canada wants to move the product. They wanted to provide us with the oil. But now they are planning on shipping it to Asia. All the while the good people in Amerika are getting supplied by the oh so friendly Middle Eastern sheiks.
This week Canada's Prime Minister Stephen Harper said,
"I am very serious about selling our oil off this continent, selling our energy products off to Asia. I think we have to do that."
"When I was down in the United States recently, it was interesting. I ran into several senior Americans who all said, ‘Don't worry, we'll get Keystone [pipeline] done. You can sell all of your oil to us.' I said, ‘Yeah we'd love to,' but I think the problem is now that we're on a different track."
The implications are Canada is tired of being jerked around by American politicians. They will run that pipeline West and ship that shit to Asia.
This country is led by complete morons and we will all suffer for it. Obama alone could have made a single call and said "build this fucker." Thousands of hands would have begun work and millions of barrels of oil would be flowing into the U.S. resulting in decreased need for Middle East oil.
Un-fucking-believable.
I hope Harper is bluffing. But why would he be? That oil will be enriching another region while we blow on our windmills and burn solar panels for warmth.
It gets so frustrating...
ReplyDeleteRon Paul in 2012 is about the last chance we have, and his chances of getting elected are about that of a snowball in hell.
I'm with ya most of the way here. When environazis see a plentiful and affordable source of energy they morph into Sheriff John Brown:
ReplyDeleteSheriff John Brown always hated me;
For what I don't know.
Every time that I plant a seed
He said, "Kill it before it grows."
He said, "Kill it before it grows."
There is one little problem. Apparently some landowners are being threatened with eminent domain if they don't sell. I'm not up on the details, but you might want to look into it.
The environmentally friendly option would be portable molten thorium fluoride reactors to heat the tar sands instead of buring half to free the other half. (The Air Force was playing with models small enough to power bombers back in the 1950s.)
ReplyDeleteBuild some non-portable models at home and we can heat the northeast with plain old electric resistance heat. No more need for heating oil.
Not sure what to do with our natural gas. Maybe make methanol out of it for motor vehicles. Still trying to find some good info on methanol's toxicity vs. gasoline. Can people safely handle it for their cars and lawn mowers without going blind from the vapors or skin contact?
@Donk - I like Paul, it's his foreign policy where we part ways.
ReplyDelete@Cromulent - Yea, it's a problem. They should make the company negotiate with each individual landowner instead of government takeover. But in the end the pipeline is needed. They could negotiate reasonable easements and reasonable compensation.
@Carl - the only energy solutions that the environwackos seem to approve of is wind and solar. They drive the conversation for liberals no matter how suitable other options like nat gas might be. The thorium fluoride reactor solution might be a smart idea but there is no way it could be sold to the public no matter how safe it is, as well as the resulting waste is, and it is probably ( I don't know) more expensive than the current method for extracting the oil out of the tar sands.
Splork, I hope you don't mind if I say "Fuck Obama" again towards our half white president.
ReplyDeleteI'm not sure our country will ever recover from these 4 years.
On a lighter note, I'm working on a wind mill attachment for lawn mowers. I really hate all those stinky gas fumes when I cut my 6 acres.
@Steve - Not at all. I'm more worried about the ensuing four years under Obama. America will be done. It will finally crumble under FDR, LBJ, Woodrow Wilson and Obama's love for the collective.
ReplyDeleteSplork, whats wrong with ron pauls foreign policy? Do u want us to police the world???
ReplyDelete@Shuck - Not at all, but I support Israel and am distrustful of Iran. Other than that I'd be happy to reduce the empire.
ReplyDeleteYou gotta be a moron or a Muslim not to support Israel. A cursory look at history in that area of the world shows that every single empire and wannabe empire had to control the Levant. Not necessarily occupy it - Rome didn't - but control it.
ReplyDeleteThe US is not really an empire in the style of Rome or its historical cousins. But we do have a deep and abiding interest in making sure someone else doesn't build an empire in that part of the world that can threaten our interests. And having Israel as a friend is a good, cheap, and morally salubrious way of doing that.
That is the Kissingerian case for Israel. There are others.
