Administrators, teachers and parents of a high school in Washington State should be so proud of the young citizens they are leading into adulthood. They apparently know nothing about the country they are inheriting.
This video was created by one of its students. Basic civics questions were asked. The answers some of these students gave have to be heard to be believed. You might be shocked to know one genius believes Bin Laden to be our Vice President. Or maybe not. This is government education.
It is no wonder this country is in such dire straits. No wonder the government has no fear of its people. They do not know a thing about what makes this country free. They do not know about liberty. Bet every single one of these kids could tell you the starting quarterbacks for the Stupid Bowl but could not tell you who we fought for our independence.
This school is definitely not unique. We spend more money on education than any other country on the planet and this is what we get in return. It's pathetic.
"I was never taught that knowledge."
Indeed young man. Indeed.
My wife is a school teacher and if we are spending more money on education where is it going. She had 3 pay cuts in 2 yrs. Plus states are using ed money to expand state government.
ReplyDeleteHere in my state they used teachers retirement fund to build a shopping center. Then they increased the amount the teachers put in retirement to cover the money the state spent.
Hell sound like a liberal state but its not. We are red to the core.
You raise some great points. I don't think education in this country was as dire as it is now before it was taken over by the Department of Education. Billions are spent on "education" when you know that spending is used on administrative crap. Your wife probably has to teach to a stupid standardized test and not what a kid really needs to learn.
ReplyDeleteIt's why we homeschool and attend a fantastic co-op. Our learning center is top-notch.
Republicans spend as much as Democrats do. They all want expanded government from the local to state to the feds. It's why virtually every state is broke.
I can tell you my property taxes have gone up seemingly every year. Supposedly spending on education in the Stimulus bill doubled and spending has increased each year. Granted the fed only make up around 10% of education spending with the bulk handled by the states.
No matter how you slice it is the kids that are getting screwed. And ultimately this country.
It looks like the same somewhat inane people were asked most of the questions in, shall we say, an environment of frivolity. That would seem to invalidate this video as an example of your concerns.
