14 Trillion in Debt - Congratulations America! It's a New Record!

debt

America is now 14 trillion dollars in debt. Between Bush and Obama, the government has created a burden that we, our children and our grandchildren may never be able to pay. Our futures are fucked. In a couple of months the debt ceiling will rise. Some will say this is bad. Some will say it's necessary. I don't think they should raise it unless they come to some agreement to end this madness.

I'm tired of the nation building. I'm tired of the wars. I'm tired of the pork, whatever the size. I'm tired of union paybacks. I'm tired of bullshit military programs that no one in the military want but Congress makes them keep. I'm tired of expanding government. I'm tired of bureaucracy we don't need. I'm tired of the culture of corruption in Washington. I'm tired of paying for a government that does little more than keep themselves in power. I'm tired of producers paying for moochers.

We are an embarrassment.

  1. I'll read a post or two about Social Security or Medicare at HuffPost and skim the comment section, where they say these programs are sustainable. I'm not an economist and I truly want to believe them, but I just don't. I think the Paul Ryan's and the Chris Christie's are our only fiscal hope, but liberals and conservatives alike get scared at even talking about reforming these programs. I might actually head over to check out Ryan's plan now. I think they've got a rough outline at least online.

  2. At the rate they are going they are not sustainable. The government CBO says as much, as well as just about any thoughtful economist. Not sure why HuffPp and others on the left want to continue deluding their readers that these programs are sustainable in their current form. It must fit their narrative that government spending and socialist programs can continue in perpetuity. I'm not planning on seeing a dime from either program and hope that my miserly ways of saving and investing now will sustain me in a lower cost country when I retire. I'll leave the country to the socialists.
